Summer time is outdoor kid’s birthday time!
After the green baby shower, after the anxiously awaited bundle of joy has arrived and day to day child-rearing has been settled into it can be easy to forget the “green possibilities”. Although they absolutely need to practice with computerized toys that give them a chance to become familiar with the tech savvy world they inhabit, we also know that toddlers also need to learn about beautiful planet they live on. Let’s face it: the more a child enjoys exploring the natural world around them, the more interested they will be in taking care of it.
We at Good Gifts Naturally are big on supporting GROWING GREEN KIDS!
That’s why GGN had eco-conscious, child-development loving TEACHERS pick out our toys for toddlers – just in time for the summer birthday party season!
Every child has at least one stuffed animal.
But if you are looking for something even more ‘out of the green box’:
How about toy animals (made with eco-friendly fabrics of course) that depict more exotic creatures to encourage a sense of curiosity in your child for this big, beautiful world?
Toys that help kids relate to nature are a fantastic way to teach and inspire about being green, which we think is why our most popular children’s toy is a set of handmade finger puppets of animals from the rainforest.
Not only do they provide endless hours of creative fun, they also introduce different species of animals, and give instant exposure to one of the world’s most preciously green places.
As our teachers repeatedly told us, you can never have too many books in a house with children. Books are an instant way to transport your child and open up their world to all kinds of green concepts!
Since the puppets were so popular GGN started carrying a picture book about the rain forest as well so kids could read about the animals they were playing with!
It’s called: Over in the Jungle: A Rainforest Rhyme Book (Sharing Nature with Children).
Of course, we want to point out that if you decide an activity/experience is a better gift – that’s great! You can give the gift of a “green adventure” to a zoo or a nature center with fun green programs for kids. The child will not just have a blast with you and their friends; it will also teach them that gifts don’t have to be tangible objects.
