Good Gift Naturally has perfect gift ideas that are artfully inspired!
The dictionary gives this definition of ART: beautiful things or thought-provoking works produced through creative activities of human endeavor.
With that definition in mind, we at Good Gifts Naturally believe our ideas for gift-giving and gift-making fall under this artful category, since we believe making someone’s eyes light up when they receive the perfect gift is definitely an art.
Good Gifts Naturally has figured out how to consistently get that response every time a gift is given: The technique is simple~~ the great look on their face happens when the recipients realize how meaningful and thoughtful your choice of present is!
With that in mind, our GGN buyers love to find stunning, emotion-stirring, handmade, fairly-traded gifts that always, always give back in some way, green “art gifts”. In fact, the only thing we love more is to share our finds with you!
So once again in the name of ART: we offer another blog focusing on Good Green Art Gifts Ideas that are handmade and fairly traded by ART-isans that we adore. We’re hoping it will inspire you to dabble in or even become a Master of the art of gift-giving!
This special motif is from various world theologies, mythologies, and philosophies, which makes these pieces more than just beautiful, handmade works of art – they are also a deeply symbolic.
The Tree of Life is a mystical concept alluding to the interconnectedness of all life on our planet. This makes it perfect for anyone! We find it especially great when used as décor in a home (wonderful for a housewarming gift) or even at a green celebration, such as a baby shower where people are welcoming new life onto the earth! These gorgeous pieces are made from recycled materials, which makes them green works of art!
We went to Haiti because it is known for artisans who make oil drum art. The constant hammering from the sheds in the area led us to beautiful metalwork, with each stop offering new designs. Haitian Artisans -Carlo Brutus and Eugene Jacques are two of the many artisans in Croix des Bouquets, an area of Port-Au-Prince. Eugene’s shed was tucked behind several others and yielded unique three-dimensional masks with cogs and bicycle chains for earrings. Each piece is a work of art and signed with “Eugene”. Carlo has what seemed like hundreds of different unique design of the ubiquitous round steel drum artwork hanging from every inch of wall space in his tiny warehouse.
The Diaspora of Haitians has spread the designs and skills of Oil Drum art throughout the Caribbean but the art is truly Haitian. Old oil drums are no longer readily available and are imported into Haiti by container and sold to the artisans. Even though cheaper, more readily available steel sheets could be used, artisans rely on the used drums for the patina in their art making it a green gift that, when fairly traded, gives back to everyone!
It also makes these Tree Of Life wall hangings really good gifts, naturally!
